Jenny Hardacre, Course Development Manager
Jenny started teaching in 1982, and was initially surprised to find that she really enjoyed teaching!
"My first job was in Turkey where I discovered how fascinating it is to live in another country."
She was surprised to find English grammar really interesting. Her first job was in Turkey and there she discovered how fascinating it is to live in another country – quite different from being a tourist. After Turkey she worked in Greece and Spain, the Soviet Union and the former Yugoslavia. She came back to the UK in 1990 and worked for a year teaching ESL to immigrants, which she loved. Apart from work she enjoys walking, cooking, gardening, reading and current affairs. She has plenty of advice for new teachers, but thinks the most important thing is to take a genuine interest in your students. It's much easier to teach people effectively when you know a bit about them - and much easier to learn from someone who really cares about your progress.
